Motion and access control electronics sit at an awkward intersection: a power stage, a safety-relevant decision and a field bus on the same board, in an enclosure nobody opens for years. Most of our work has been here — gate and barrier control units, motor drivers, access management systems.

None of these problems belong to gates. A conveyor drive has the same thermal average, a dosing pump has the same unknown mechanical load, a machine peripheral has the same switching stage next to the same bus transceiver. What changes is the mechanism and the certification path.

  • Duty cycle, not peak loadA gate operator's motor stage may run thousands of cycles a week, with stalls that look like normal operation. Sizing for peak current is easy; sizing for the thermal average is where boards fail.
  • A load nobody measuredFriction changes with weather, the installer sets the limits, the gate ages. Current sensing and position handling have to tolerate a load the designer never measured.
  • Safety-related switchingPhotocells, edge sensors and stop inputs are not features; they are conditions the board has to honour even while its firmware is confused. Such logic belongs in hardware paths independent of software state.
